Work in Progress

Please Note: Blog Archives are at the bottom of the page.
I started this blog on June 14, 2012. I plan to post my previous scrap pages, from the most recent > working backwards; and add new scrap pages as I create them. It could take awhile, as I'd scrapped nearly 400 pages prior to starting this blog. Each one was the best I could do with the photos I had on the day it was made, and each has special meaning to me.

1973 Groovy Wallpaper

The journaling says...
This was my first real place of my own. I rented the top half of a house on Lake Ave. in Stoney Creek and I even had my own backyard.

When I moved in I painted every room in the house and hung this groovy wallpaper in the kitchen. I also painted the kitchen cupboards. I was very proud of my handiwork, haha.

It's a tad busy by today's standards :)
I made the funky shaped frame by creating a custom shape in MyMemories Suite and filling it with paper. I used a previous Facebook Exclusive kit (from February 2012) called 'All Retro' (by PersnicketyPrints"). I tried to make a page that just screamed LOUD and BUSY!!! I think may have succeeded :))

Diamond Jubilee

Yesterday my hubby and I watched the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant on TV. (3 1/2 hours = fabulous). I just LOVE stuff like this. So funny how the British newscasters refused to say the word 'rain' but referred to the weather as 'unrelentingly damp', haha. (It poured!) It didn't seem to dampen the spirits of the people though. I must say the Brits do Pageantry exceedingly well. So nice to see some Canadians taking part in the flotilla. Thought I'd make a little page to celebrate.

That's Dillon holding the Canadian flag in his mouth. I used the kit "The Great British Street Party" (by LouCee Creations). The photo of the Queen and the Diamond Jubilee emblem are downloads available on The official website of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. (http://www.thediamondjubilee.org/)

Feed, Me, Feed Me!

This is my page for a Blog Challenge Scraplift on Marie H Designs blog and FB Fan page. I used 'Sweet Sunny Summer' and 'Good Old Summertime' (both by Marie H Designs). The photos were taken in our backyard on May 15th. I didn't realize how huge a baby sparrow's mouth was until I zoomed in with my camera, lol. These little guys have already taken their first flights out of the nest, but the parents are still feeding them.

For participating in the challenge I received this free kit from Marie, 'Dear Diary'

Linda Ronstadt Hair

This isn't really a scrap page. It's just a little something I made after a few of my digi scrap pals on Facebook and I were talking about old hair styles from back in the day. There were four of us that nearly the identical style (and in some cases, the same glasses) lol.

I used items form February's Tinsel Town Glamour Blog Train (on Divine Digital). Now expired.

1983 Eric's Christening

We were discussing old hair styles on facebook and I made this simple little page just to show some of the gals my 80's perm, haha. This was taken on the day on my nephew Eric's Christening in 1983. My husband and I were (are) Eric's God Parents.

I used a retired kit called "Choochie Face" (by LouCee Creations) and another retired kit called "Baby Born"(by Meta Wulandari Design).

RIP Jesse James

Today was a very sad day for me. Our 13 year old budgie, Jesse James passed away. He had been acting very quiet and sleepy for the past three days and wasn't eating or drinking much. Every hour I would reach into his cage and hold food and water up for him and he would take a bit, then go back to sleep. It was so unlike him, as for 13 years he was chirpy, happy, active, cheerful and affectionate every waking moment.

I had contacted an avian veterinarian, but she said that 13 was very old for a budgie and if I tried to bring him into the clinic for a checkup the stress would be too much for him. So I followed her instructions, lowered his perches, placed folded up towels in the bottom of his cage (in case he fell), kept him warm and quiet, and tried to keep him as comfortable as possible. This morning he was quieter than ever. I took a few photos of him, knowing in my heart the end was near.

Late this afternoon I was in the kitchen and happened to be watching Jesse as he slept with his head tucked under his wing, when he suddenly just stretched his wings straight out from his body, then slowly, slowly, slowly toppled off his perch and landed softly on the towels. Within a few seconds he stopped breathing. I think his heart finally gave out. I burst into tears, but was very grateful that the end was quick for him. Poor old Jesse. I loved him dearly and will miss him terribly.

I used Word Art World by Jennifer's June Facebook exclusive, "Memories" kit to make this page for Jesse.

1945 C.W.A.C. Mom

I'm continuing work on my heritage pages. I used one of my sister Lil's beautiful kits 'Vintage Sepia' (LLL Creations) for most of this page about our Mom. The little Memories tag is from 'Clementine' (Rebel Without a Pause). And I made a few things... the Sergeant's patch, the Canadian Women's Army Corps pin and the army button were all extractions from photos and enhanced in PSP. The vintage postcard is a crop from a multi-colour C.W.A.C. poster, which I aged to dull it down to the right tone for the page. And the letter is a real WWII letter from history archives ... I aged it and blurred it.
