Work in Progress

Please Note: Blog Archives are at the bottom of the page.
I started this blog on June 14, 2012. I plan to post my previous scrap pages, from the most recent > working backwards; and add new scrap pages as I create them. It could take awhile, as I'd scrapped nearly 400 pages prior to starting this blog. Each one was the best I could do with the photos I had on the day it was made, and each has special meaning to me.

Dedo = Grandpa

Yesterday I asked my sister Lil if she would share a couple of photos of Peter & Hayden together because I wanted to scrap a page of them. She sent me 38 photos, lol. So I'll be making more than one page :)

I used 'Grand Connections' (Marie h Designs); 'Wonder-Fall' (Marie h Designs); 'Fall Frolic' (Marie h Designs) and the mauvey-grey background paper is from 'Looking Back' (The Urban Fairy). I made the title with 'Mister Alpha' (Mad Genius). I re-coloured the films strips (Alb2Rem) from black to brown. The LO is based on one of Barb's page builders, PB5 (Alb2Rem), but I modified it quite a bit. :)

The Colours of Fall

OK, I realized AFTER I made this and viewed the finished page that it's kind of a hot mess, lol. Soooooooooo busy, but really it's just one large photo with some embellishments on top of it. I have so many old photos of the dogs that I'm scanning and this one just needed a page all on it's own :)

I used 'Wonder-Fall' (Marie H. Designs)
and 'Fabulous Fall' (Kimeric Kreations)

Spread Your Ears and Fly

These photos of Rudi (a handsome English Springer Spaniel, the best breed of dog on earth, lol) are from a lovely lady from Sweden named Britt Marie Webster that I met on Facebook. I told Britt that I loved her photo and wanted to make a page about Flight and her photo of Rudi with his ears flapping was perfect.

Britt said she was flattered and said I could use her photos. She also said that she really like that picture too, and it won a photo competition in her local newspaper a few years back.

So I happily made this page and sent it to her and she posted it on her blog Julita-Rudis Blogg.

I posted this page on GingerScraps yesterday, Wednesday (September 12th). This morning I got a message that it was nominated for Baker's Best 9/9-9/15

Update: On Sunday (September 16th) I got a message from GingerScraps that this layout was nominated for LOTW (layout of the week) and voting commenced. There are some truly gorgeous layouts this week, so I don't expect to win, but it is an honour to be chosen none-the-less. :)

Credits:
Photos of Rudi taken by his owner, Britt Marie Webster (Sweden) and used with her permission. Thanks Britt!
Primary kit used: Take Flight Collab (Kimeric Kreations and Sweet Digi Scraps).
Paw print border, green background, leaves and journal oval from 'Cats and Dogs' (Connie Prince). Orange mushrooms from 'Fall Frolic' (Marie H Designs).
I made the text bubble with an SVG shape and did the extraction of Rudi on the bottom right. :-)
Note: In the pic on the left Rudi is laying in a patch of moss and wild mushrooms.

Oh and I should mention, the Swedish text in the thought bubble says, "I have my own wings.", courtesy of freetranslation dot com, haha, but Britt said it's right.

As soon as I saw you...

My niece posted this photo on Facebook and it made me laugh out loud, for real. It looks like Hayden is thinking, "Yikes, Tyler ... stop with the crying already!!" That's not what was really going on but I had fun scrapping this pic and telling a story of what might have been going on in his head :)

Hayden has this "trick" he does .... he shows his muscles like he's a little body builder. It's really funny. You can watch a short video clip of Hayden doing that (taken two months ago, so he was a bit smaller).

In the photo (above) that I scrapped Hayden was actually "showing his muscles" to Tyler, trying to distract him from crying. It wasn't working, haha. When I made the page I was aiming for kinda crazy ... like "2 boys = all heck breaks loose."

I made the two main background papers myself in PSP, using colours from the photo. For elements I used two of my favourite boy kits ... 'Boys Only' *the bundle with the wordart and paint splats (collab by Marie H Designs and Craft-tastrophic) and 'Boys of Summer' (by Ziggle Designs). I used one journal from 'Boyish Summer Journaling Cards' (by Erica Coombs), but I recoloured it to match my page.

July Exercise Calendar

Yesterday (July 1st), was not only Canada Day but Day 1 of on the new 'Doing It For Digi' weight loss/healthy lifestyle regime. I'm a lists and calendars kinda gal. I like to have a plan and be able to check things off my lists and add little checkmarks or "you did it stars" to my calendar. I guess it takes me back to my grammar school days. Anyway, I've come up with my exercise schedule for the month of July and decided I might as well scrap it ... as in make a page, not scrap the whole idea of exercising, lol.

The plan is to start off slow and ease myself back into a fitness routine.
  • Sunday: Walk or Cycle 40-60 min.
  • Monday: Yoga 20 min. and Strength Training 20 min.
  • Tuesday: Walk 30 min. (Treadmill Hills)
  • Wednesday: Yoga 20 min.
  • Thursday: Walk or Cycle 40-60 min (or REST if needed).
  • Friday: Yoga 20 min. and Strength Training 20 min.
  • Saturday: Walk 30 min. (Treadmill Hills)

We have a small home gym set up in our basement. Nothing fancy, but have a treadmill, an upright exercise bike, weights, etc. a flatscreen TV on the wall, and an area large enough to do yoga or any other type of fitness DVD. I use to collect fitness equipment and exercise DVDs the way I currently collect digi-kits.

I'm hoping to walk or cycle outdoors a couple of times a week, but if it's killer hot out I can still do it indoors. I also have a couple of fans set up downstairs so I really have NO excuse for not exercising. I just haven't done any since last October. Paint me lazy.

I hope to build up to 60 minutes of exercise/day and increase the strength training to 3x/week. That's the goal anyway. We'll see how it goes. I am not going to beat myself up if I miss a day now and then.

I used a kit called 'Start Now' by Wendy Tunison Designs and the stars are from 'Rock a Bye Baby' (by Marie h Designs). I made the tiny treadmill from a photo of the treadmill that we actually own, and I made the wordstrips.

Cute as a Bug

These photos of my adorably cute grand-nephew Hayden were taken a few days ago by my niece Shannon. I think the pics are awesome and as soon as I saw what Hayden was wearing I knew I had the perfect kit for this.

I used 'Boys Only' (collab by Marie H Designs and Craft-tastrophic) ... I loved it so much I bought the bundle. I know I'll be using this kit over and over.

Blue hearts (Viola Moni) & blue buckle (Digi Cyber Scraps), from May's 'A Royal Wedding Blog Train'). Bugs from 'Bug Detective' (MDF).

Feed, Me, Feed Me!

This is my page for a Blog Challenge Scraplift on Marie H Designs blog and FB Fan page. I used 'Sweet Sunny Summer' and 'Good Old Summertime' (both by Marie H Designs). The photos were taken in our backyard on May 15th. I didn't realize how huge a baby sparrow's mouth was until I zoomed in with my camera, lol. These little guys have already taken their first flights out of the nest, but the parents are still feeding them.

For participating in the challenge I received this free kit from Marie, 'Dear Diary'
