Work in Progress

Please Note: Blog Archives are at the bottom of the page.
I started this blog on June 14, 2012. I plan to post my previous scrap pages, from the most recent > working backwards; and add new scrap pages as I create them. It could take awhile, as I'd scrapped nearly 400 pages prior to starting this blog. Each one was the best I could do with the photos I had on the day it was made, and each has special meaning to me.

May the Force be with you!

Yesterday my hubby and I were driving around doing some errands, grocery shopping, etc., and when we drove by an arena we saw 4 Storm Troopers standing right by the driveway at the side of the street. Well we had to pull in to find out what was going on.

The parking lot was packed, but we found a spot and went inside. A group of volunteers called 'Force Niagara' were holding a fund-raiser for 'Help a Child Smile', (helping children who have cancer).

We walked around looking at the exhibits and there were lots of volunteers wearing amazing costumes. One of the fund-raiser activitiies was getting your photo taken with the storm troopers, $5.00/pic ... we bought two and made another small donation on the way out. It was fun, a nice little break in the middle of doing errands, and it was for a good cause.

I think we were the only couple there that did NOT have young kids with us. :)

I used 'Space Race' (A Saxon Creation) for most of this. The green ticket is from 'Let Them Eat Cake' (A Saxon Creation). The film strip is from 'Sweetie' by Scrappy Cocoa. It was brown, but I changed it to black :)

Fabulous

I was thinking about how quickly lives can change. It was only a few years ago that my niece posed for these photos, and now she's a wife and a mommy with two baby boys and is more beautiful than ever.

I used a kit called "Hey Girlfriend' (by LouCee Creations) and the matching freebie cluster frames that I grabbed (just this morning) on Lou's Facebook Fan Page and her blog.

The journaling says,
"Just a few years ago you were dreaming of being a wife and a mother, and now all of your dreams have come true. From your whirlwind courtship, to your fairy-tale wedding it's been an incredible story ... and now you have a loving husband, two beautiful baby boys and are still a gorgeous young woman. You are a fantastic Mommy, a fabulous person, a loyal and generous friend, and I'm very very proud of you. You are loved Shannon."

1945 Beautiful Mom

I used a kit called "i doodle love u" (Word Art World by Jennifer) and Jennifer's Mother's Day (SWAP 82) wordart. Roadside Designs had a free Mother's Day template (which I can't use in MyMemories), but I flipped it around and sort of scraplifted (copied the layout) it as a starting point for my page.

Garden Helpers

These are pics of my garden helpers, Dillon and Nat :)) I used papers and elements from two adorable new kits from Lou, 'The Potting Shed' and 'Behind The Potting Shed' (by LouCee Creations). This was such fun to play with. I miss our sweet Natty Boy.

La Grande Hermine

We pass this rusty hull of an old sailing ship quite often. It sits in the harbour near the shore about a 15 minute drive from our house. I've always thought it was neat and wondered about it so I looked up its history and decided to scrap it. I remember when it looked like the original wood ship until some vandals set it on fire. I took this photo last summer, on a perfectly calm day, without a ripple on the water, but a big storm was heading our way. It literally was the calm before the storm. I used "Beach Retreat" (by LouCee Creations).

The journaling says,
"A life-size replica of the vessel 'La Grande Hermine' was featured at Expo '67 in Montreal in 1967 where it served as a floating restaurant. It remained in Quebec for at least three decades.

The replica was later moved to Ontario with the intention of renovating it and re-opening it as a restaurant. Unfortunately, the new owner ran out of funds, and the ship sat in Jordan Harbour for years, unused.

In 2003, the ship was destroyed by what police called a suspicious fire, most likely the work of arsonists. The burned-out and rusting hull still sits in the harbour to this day."

Adorable Together

For this page I used a freebie kit from Word Art World by Jennifer (January FB exclusive (Adventure Kit) and wordart from Jennifer's (SWAP 82) freebie.

The journaling says,

"Dillon and Nathaniel, July 2003

Dillon used to hop up onto this chair every day to take a nap. As soon as he got comfy, Nathaniel would jump up and sit right on top of Dillon, and just stay there, looking out the front window.

Dillon never seemed to mind having his fifty pound pal squashing him. Most of the time he didn't even bother to open his eyes, just kept right on napping.

Surfing the Interweb Thingie

We were at my brother's on Saturday night and he was trying to look up something on the internet. John is not web savvy and has never been on Facebook. He was cracking me up as he was trying "to surf", haha.

I used some of my sister Lil's kits to make this. Most of it is from 'Water Fun' (LLL Creations); the background is one of Lil's 'Stitched Papers', and I also used one of her 'Journaling Clip Boards'.
